Biography

Catey Smith Warner is from Alpine, Utah. Since childhood, she has gravitated toward all fine arts and has loved dance, especially ballet. Catey is currently seeking her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance with an emphasis in ballet at UVU and will graduate in Spring of 2014. UVU has given her opportunities to explore and research the field of dance. She presented her dance history research at UCUR in 2009 and was accepted to NCUR for the same research (both are scholastic research conferences). She has had the opportunity to perform with Utah Regional Ballet's Nutcracker in 2003-2007, UVU's Repertory Ballet Ensemble 2008-10, in her peer's graduation showcase of 2009 and 2010, and in pieces by Filippo Taglioni, Robert Kelly, Shayla Bott, Nichole Ortega, Wilson Domingues,  Jacqueline College, Heather Gray, and Brittnee Squires.

still alive.

My name is Catey Smith Warner. I am about to receive my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance, Ballet Emphasis degree and I'm really happy about it. I think I have accomplished a lot. Almost a year ago, I was on my way to the bus stop on the first day of my last semester at UVU. While I was standing on the corner, a boy the same age as me ran into me with his truck. I don't remember getting hit, I only remember waking up to EMTs helping me onto a gurney. After I confirmed that I knew who I was and that I wanted them to call my husband and mother, I remember thinking that maybe one of my legs or both would have to be amputated. That didn't happen and I was in really good shape for getting hit by a car going between 35 and 45 miles per hour and the EMTs were surprised to find out that I didn't have brain damage.
The anniversary of my accident is coming up on August 25 and I am still going to physical therapy. I am eager to dance again and I hope that I can. I also want to develop my other artistic talents. It has been a rough trial but I'm still getting better.
My husband sometimes references Harry Potter and says that I'm the girl that lived. I still have many joy in my life.
